Templates are used to create new documents in Clausematch. Templates help to unify and standardize the document drafting process while ensuring consistency across documents.
- A template can only be used to create a document, it cannot be used in place of a regular document.
- Document stages can only be added to a template. All documents created from a template will inherit those stages.
- Paragraphs can be locked in a template to prevent them from being edited in all the documents created from this specific template. Paragraphs also can be unlocked.
- Changes made to locked paragraphs in a template apply to all the documents that originate from the template.
- Changes made to the document stages in a template apply to all the documents that originate from the template.
- Templates are created and stored in the Templates category.
Here's how the template lifecycle looks like:
- Create a template.
- Edit the template.
- Add document stages.
- When the template is ready, add users to it. Only users with access to the template will be able to create documents from it.
- Release the template.
- Any user with access to the template can create documents from it.
- If a new template version is drafted, make changes to the template and publish it. Those changes will be also applied to all documents created from the template.
Note that only changes made in the locked paragraphs are applied automatically.
