Add, View and Resolve Comments
Overview
Find more information on how to add, view and resolve comments on documents or paragraphs in Clausematch.
Pre-conditions
- Document Level Permission: 'Owner', 'Editor', 'Reviewer'
- The document type of the document has had its Comments feature enabled.
- The type can be confirmed to the left of the version number and document title.
Contact an administrator if you believe this needs to be changed.

Steps
Add or View Document-level Comment:
- Find the document on the dashboard.
- Open the document.
- Click on the Document activity icon on the right hand side.
- Type comment in the comment box.
- (Optional): Use @ symbol to tag a user or user group* in the comment.
- (Optional): Select Everyone or Custom* for visibility of the comment.
- Click Send or Enter on the keyboard.
Add or View Paragraph-level Comment:
- Find the document on the dashboard.
- Open the document.
- Select a paragraph.
- Click on the Paragraph activity icon on the right hand side.
- Type comment in the comment box.
- (Optional): Use @ symbol to tag a user or user group* in the comment.
- (Optional): Select Everyone or Custom* for visibility of the comment.
- Click Send or Enter on the keyboard.

Create Mentions
Add user and user group to the comment:
- Click on the comment box.
- Type @ symbol on the keyboard.
- Add user or user group to the comment.
- Click Send or Enter on the keyboard.
View Mentions
View all mentions:
- Click on the @ symbol on the right hand side.
Comment Visibility
All comments are visible to all users by default. It is possible to restrict access to a comment by setting custom visibility. Before adding a comment:
- Click on the Everyone icon below the comment.
- Select Custom.
- Select users or user groups who will be able to see the comment.
- Click Send or Enter on the keyboard.
Multiline Comments
Add multiline comments:
- Press Shift+Enter on the keyboard.
Apply Rich-Text Formatting
You can bold, italicise, underline, and even strikethrough text to make your point loud and clear.
Plus, you can insert links directly within your comments, making it easier than ever to jump to related documents or resources.
Responding to Comments
Respond to a comment:
- Click on the comment.
- Click Reply.
- Type comment in the comment box.
- (Optional): Use @ symbol to tag a user or user group in the comment.
- Click Send or Enter on the keyboard.
Resolving Comments
When a feedback has been addressed or a question has been answered, a comment can be marked as resolved to indicate that the action has been taken on it.
- Click on the comment.
- Click Resolve.
Recover Comments
Recover a comment:
- Click on the comment.
- Click Unresolve.
Copy Links to Comments
- Click on the link icon in the top right corner of the comment.*
Permissions for Comments
Permissions for comments can be updated for the two following Primary roles:
- Editor;
- Reviewer.
Permissions for comments will be automatically defaulted for Owner and Read Released by the system:
- Owner: Comments to Create & Read, Approvals to Add & Remove;
- Read Released: Comments to Hidden, Approvals to Hidden.

Notes
- Users can reply to comments and their replies will be listed as a separate discussion thread.
- The user or user group mentioned on a comment will receive email notification(s).
Copy links to comments
- Link to the Paragraph comment will always open the Document Activity. However, by clicking on the comment, we will scroll and highlight the required paragraph.
- If there are more than 480 comments - it could take up to 2-3 seconds to load comments.
