Overview

You can enforce a template's text/font styles (Normal, Headings 1-5) to the documents it's attached to*, making it so the default* text style is locked.

The following text settings can be styled:

  • Font;
  • Font size;
  • Bold;
  • Italic;
  • Underlined;
  • Text's colour.

Pre-conditions

  • Document Level Permission for Template: 'Owner', 'Editor'.
  • The template has been released after its specific heading text styles have been set.
  • The documents(s) to be enforced are:

Steps

  1. Click Format from the menubar.
  2. Select Text styles.
  3. (Optional): Modify the text style(s) or click Reset styles to reset all styles to their default settings.
  4. Toggle the option Inherit text styles to documents created from this template.
  5. Click Save.

Notes

  • This means that for any specific text within a paragraph, using the Formatting Toolbar, a document user can manually change its text styles.
    • This does not apply for the numbering next to a paragraph.
      The numbering's style will be locked to the corresponding text style enforced by the template.
  • Be it currently or future, through direct or indirect attachment (indirect being created/uploaded with the template).
    This only happens if the template is released with this inheritance setting toggled on.
  • If the inherit option is toggled off, documents created/uploaded with this template will have the text styles of their inherited document paragraphs be determined by the platform's general text styles (this can vary by platform, if unsure please reach out to your Customer Success Manager as they can confirm that information).
    So the inherited document paragraphs' text styles won't be determined by their corresponding template paragraph's direct text styles.
