Stages help to manage document workflow and track progress across all documents.
Stages are configured in document templates. Documents which are created from a template will inherit the same stages that were predefined in the particular template.
Some stages can be pre-set as mandatory and document owners must move their document to the required stage before finalising and publishing the document.
Or some of the stages can be locked, so that editing a document at that stage is not longer possible.
If the template owner makes changes to the document stages in a template, the same changes will apply to the document stages in associated documents.
Documents that were not created from templates will only have two default stages set up - Draft and Release.
Draft is a stage where a document can be edited. When the document needs to be published, a document owner moves it to the Release stage. After this is completed, the document can be published on the Policy Portal.
