Overview
Clausematch documents are structured into paragraphs. Each paragraph is organised into levels. Unlike in MS Word, where the numbering defines the structure, paragraph levels are the structure that defines numbering in Clausematch.
Document numbering can be a guide - if it is not correct, the paragraph may be placed on the wrong level. In this case, a user needs to change the paragraph level for this paragraph/section.
Pre-conditions
- Document Level Permission: 'Owner', 'Editor'.
Steps
Turn Paragraph Numbering On or Off:
- Hover over the top-left corner of a paragraph.
- Click on the small drop-down arrow to access the paragraph menu.
- Select Toggle Numbering to either add or remove paragraph numbering.
Change Numbering Formatting* For the Entire Document:
- Open the Format menu.
- Select Numbering Formatting.
- Set the numbering and punctuation for each paragraph level by clicking on upward or downward arrow icons.
- (Optional): Tick the box got the Show all or individual Show boxes.
- Click Save.
Set Custom Numbering in a Particular Document Section:
- Click on the number to open the numbering menu.
- Select Restart numbering to start the new numbering sequence*.
- Select Continue numbering to revert the numbering to default and to continue the existing numbering sequence.
- Select Start numbering from to set the number (symbol) the numbering has to begin with (e.g. 3 instead of 1 or B instead of A). This can be helpful when the numbering is non-sequential and some sections are skipped.
- Select Customise numbering to set custom numbering for a particular level or for the selected section (selected paragraph and its children).
- Select Edit prefix/postfix to add a prefix (e.g. A1 instead of plain 1) or a postfix (e.g. 1A instead of 1).
- Click Save.
Supplementary Information
Select Restart numbering to separate the new numbering sequence and then proceed to set Custom numbering to change the numbering from the selected paragraph and onwards.
- To set the numbering for one level, stay on the Selected level tab. The change will apply to all paragraphs on the selected level.
- To change the numbering for all sub-paragraphs in the selected section, select the Entire list tab.
- Click Save.
Notes
- Text style of any particular numbering is determined by the document's text styles.
More specifically, its corresponding paragraph style's text style (so if the paragraph being numbered is of Normal paragraph style, it will look for the document's general text style for that paragraph style).
